Somethin’s got to give, cause life’s too short. I refuse to get smoked, like a cheap Newport. I’mma keep my head up, stand firm and tall. I started off walkin, I refused to crawl.

I got chains around my neck, but I’m gonna get free. Too many people that I know, hate for me to be me. They say my voice is too loud, my views are negative. I’m a victim of hypocrisy, somethin’s got to give. But when you hate the ones you love, you tend to get dizzy. Is life supposed to be hard, or supposed to be easy? Sometimes I ask my-self, was I born too late? It ain’t easy living in hell, knocking on Heaven’s gate.

We got drugs around the corner, guns down the street. Police rollin thru my hood, tryin to shackle my feet. I’m jumpin thru hoops, tryin to dodge the law. You’re good surviving the day, not getting socked in the jaw. From sun-up to sun-down, my face sports a frown, from a system that’s designed, to keep me on the ground. But I keep myself focused, and stay positive. Like I said once before, somethin’s got to give.

I’m walkin thru a dark tunnel, and at the end there’s a light. But the system’s like a blindfold, blockin my sight. I’m tired of avoiding obstacles, and fallin in holes. But my body’s full of heart, and I ain’t sellin my soul. Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not complainin or bitchin. But some people are like a virus, and they keeping me itchin. Sometimes I hate to wake up, but I got a life to live. Yeah, here we go again, somethin’s got to give.
