PRESS RELEASE*** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
3rd Annual CAROLINAS HOLY HIP HOP ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
Carolina All Stars Entertainment presents the 3rd annual Carolinas Holy Hip Hop Achievement Awards (CHHHAA) April 17th - 19th 2009, Charlotte NC. The Location for this event will be announced later on in the year. For The Last 2 years the event was held at the New Life Fellowship Center in Charlotte, N.C. This is the church home of the legendary Prince of Gospel "John P. Kee" (a well respected supporter of the holy hip hop genre).
The founder Correy McClure aka H.O.O.D. (highest order of discipline) has worked with the youth in many different areas including the Youth Leadership Academy (a program through UNCC that’s taught at Phillip O. Berry High School) where he taught a Digital Audio class for at risk youth which showed students they can not only listen to music but create music themselves with popular recording programs like Fruity Loops (FL Studio), several kids learned for the first time that they can actually produce music in a creative atmosphere and learn some Life Skills at the same time. McClure has since developed a quick start program for Fruity Loops which not only makes it fun to learn how to create music, but it actually makes it easy to make good quality music fast and it also opens the door for communication for the youth. McClure is also a volunteer with Gods Outreach ministries and he helps feed and clothe challenged families every Wednesday night at Epic International Church.
McClure has volunteered with the Night Court program for the past 10 years; Night Court is a program through New Life Fellowship where Pastor John P. Kee has opened the doors all night to the youth to deter crime. “For the first time in Charlotte we see kids from all over the city, different gangs and different neighborhoods getting along and mixing the teams up to play basketball in harmony”, says Coach Gerald Rand (Youth Sports director at New Life Christian Academy). The youth and young adults play basketball and discuss any day to day issues that they might be facing at home or in the neighborhood they live in and the program is usually followed by breakfast.
The Carolinas Holy Hip Hop Achievement Awards was created to build community awareness about the positive Hip Hop movement. During the three-day event positive Hip Hop artists from all over the country will participate in production classes, panel discussions and an awards program geared towards preparing them to effectively educate the community on the Holy Hip Hop movement. Artists will be given the tools and information necessary to take an effective stand against glorifying guns, drugs, violence, street gangs and prostitution in their work.
This conference is a proven method in helping to decrease juvenile delinquency and bringing crime down by instilling positive thought patterns into the minds of our challenged youth, and mentoring programs that not only educate our youth but prepare them for the real world. "We realize that not every kid is going to college, so we want to equip them with the proper Life Skills and the necessary tools to survive in today's society", says Correy McClure/CEO of the CHHHAA. We are going to bus at risk kids in from all over the city for our conference and challenge them to do more in their communities, help report crime and participate in gang prevention measures. A portion (30%) of the contributions will provide funding for the TeamWork Hip Hop Summer camp, the other 70% will go towards putting on the Carolinas Holy Hip Hop Achievement Awards showcase and conference.
