Husband arrested for incident involving gunshots

TYLER, TX - A family disturbance erupted in gunfire Monday night after a husband and wife got into an argument. It took place at the Southwest Pines Apartments off 3220 Walton Rd.

According to authorities, Shakendrick Roy, 26, and his wife were arguing. A friend and three of Roy's step children were in the room with them, when Roy took out an AK-47 assault rifle and fired several rounds in the apartment in their direction.

Fortunately, no one was reported to have been struck by the gunfire. Roy immediately left the the apartment before officers arrived.

Investigators obtained five arrest warrants for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon for Shakendrick Roy. Bond was set at $250.000.00 each by Judge Kennedy. Patrol officers were on the look out for the vehicle that Roy had left in. The vehicle was spotted at N. Confederate and Gentry Pwky. at 7:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Officers took Roy into custody and placed him into Smith County Jail.

Roy is currently out on parole for Aggravated Assault and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
