Peace to you brother. And thank you for the Blessing on our families. That was very kind of you Sir. Thoughtful too if I may add.

In regards to your post: It looks to me like we have been under close observation for the last 20 or so years. Enough of us were not showing up at PTA meetings and getting involved in our children s education. We left the responsibility on the Public School system and they took advantage of our absence. We never knew that the Census had a great deal to do with how much money is put into our communities nor did we get involved with the politics of education. We as parents and community members have played a major role in the demise of our public education system.

Most likely truant officers were cut when the budget was. I mean after all. Why should they worry about our children s education of it looks like we don't.

In our defense, we did care and we do care. But so many of us ( In these trenches - hoods and ghetto's ) can't read or write ourselves. Some of us have reached 40 years old and sill can not comprehend the language of this land that we live in. When our children come home with homework that we cant do ourselves, we become frustrated and intimidated.

Oh I'm sure that some may say that it's a dam shame that a grown woman or man can not read and that we should go back to school ourselves. Well, your right. But it's easier said than done.

I say that if those who have become educated gave BACK to these communities more, our children would be more interested in education and stay in school.

I say that if parents set educational goals and plans and got more involved. We wouldn't need truant officers because the child would be learning from HOME the value of education. But how can I value something that I am intimidated by. I instead shy away from it and not make it a priority in my home.

And if you really Really REALLY want to keep it G.H.E.T.T.O. - I say how can I be concerned with my childrens education needs and welfare if I got a blunt hanging out of my mouth 6 or 7 times a day along with a bottle of Patron at my lips from the time I get up to the time I lay it down. Hell , if I'm high or drunk all day I aint really knowing what's going on at all now do I ? ( oops! My Bad, was I too honest for some? )

There are many factors that add to the demise of public education and the mass incarceration of our Youth. Sad to say that most of the roads lead back to us.. The Parents.
